Estate Planning
We provide a full range of estate planning services for individuals and small business owners. Our estate planning services include a review of your personal and financial situation and a recommendation for a comprehensive estate plan tailored to your specific needs. We provide Revocable Living Trusts, Charitable Trusts, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Directives, Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts and Community Property Agreements, along with more complex estate planning vehicles such as Qualified Personal Residence Trusts, Buy-Sell Agreements, Family Limited Partnerships and Family Limited Liability Companies. We will assist you with funding your trust so that all your assets are included in your estate plan. By establishing a long term relationship with our clients, we are available to help keep your estate planning documents updated as your assets and circumstances change over the years. In addition, our estate planning services include estate and income tax planning and business succession planning.
Trust, Estate, and Probate Administration
This area of our practice involves distribution of property after death (“post mortem”). We represent trustees, executors, and beneficiaries with any matter related to the administration and distribution of assets held in a trust, probate or small estate. We provide you with as much or as little assistance in the administration of trusts and estates as needed. We try to find cost effective, practical solutions to beneficiary disputes.
In representing you as a fiduciary, we help you ascertain assets, heirs, and beneficiaries; work with your accountant or CPA regarding tax aspects; fulfill your obligations to the beneficiaries, meet your statutory requirements provided by trust and probate law, and distribute and close the trust or estate.
If you are seeking counsel as an heir or beneficiary, the Haskett Law Firm can help you determine your rights and entitlement based on the decedent’s estate plan and as required by law.
Litigation
The Haskett Law Firm provides litigation services to its clients in contract business disputes, will and trust contests, elder abuse, trade secrets, employment, and trust and probate litigation matters. We specialize in representing both fiduciaries and beneficiaries in contested trust matters and related litigation. We provide advice to clients who need probate court petitions for trust reformation, removal or defense of a trustee, and for other court relief.
Our philosophy is to evaluate disputes honestly and to provide our clients with a realistic and common sense approach to resolving a dispute. This attitude enables us to provide you with a cost-effective methodology to litigation. Our company philosophy and attention to detail continue to satisfy clients despite the adversarial nature of litigation.
Business Law
We provide a number of services to small to medium size businesses. In addition to structuring and forming business entities such as corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies, we represent clients in mergers, acquisitions, buy-sell agreements. We can advise clients on employment issues and annual filings as required by law. We draft and negotiate contracts and help resolve contract disputes.
If you anticipate starting your own business, we can advise you on the type of entity to choose and form the company’s legal structure from start to finish. We assist employers with lease negotiations and workman’s compensation issues. We also counsel our clients with respect to business operations and corporate document maintenance. We can advise you on legal issues regarding day-to-day business operation and in the preparation of your employee handbook.
